About
Mya Rae Nelson
Hi. I am the maker behind TangoWoods. I create furniture and functional home goods, inspired by the movement in nature. My goal with design is to bring out the natural beauty and shape of the wood, ending with a piece that adds usefulness and joy to everyday living. I strive for clean lines and a natural flow. Many of my pieces feature curves and inlay details.
How the woods connect — the joinery — is an important consideration in my designs. I work primarily with solid wood, using a combination of traditional and modern techniques, which includes wood bending. I’ve trained at the Center for Furniture Craftsmanship in Rockport, Maine, and learned from many amazing craftspeople through the years.
I make commissions for specific spaces and preferences. If you’re interested in having a piece made or adapted, let’s talk. You can also see my work/find me at the places below.
